Financial compensation for internships in education

Since the end of August 2014, many Quebec associations for students of education have come together from time to time in order to organize the Campagne de revendication et d’actions interuniversitaires des étudiants et étudiantes d’éducation en stage (CRAIES). The goal of this campaign is to pool all claims and actions of associations for students of education to raise the profile, but also in order to obtain financial compensation for students of education who are in their final internship. At the moment, CRAIES is pretty well-known on college campuses, within student associations and by their members. However, there are some gaps in the CRAIES approach and several associations who worked there have felt the need and relevance to institute a structure, to get more resources and refocus efforts towards a common goal, including relying more on the representation from political actors. It’s at this point that the SWC- Internships in Education comes into play: it is now time to establish a plan of action and a budget to campaign outside of universities.

Independent campaign

SWC are autonomous within the Quebec Student union strutures. Each SWC decides its composition, its political actions as well as its rules of operation. Participating associations will be able to decide between themselves how their campaign will be organized and will be able to establish their own representation policy regarding said issue.
