At the front line for remuneration

The Quebec student union, in collaboration with the Fédération étudiante collégiale du Québec (FECQ), is calling for ALL internships in the public and parapublic sector to be remunerated. On March 30, a motion calling for all internships in the public sector to be remunerated was passed unanimously by the National Assembly, but nothing has happened since. We demand that the government recognize the work of our interns for what it's worth, and that starts with remuneration for their work.
At the front line for remuneration

Our demand is clear :

all internships must be remunerated.

Some internships, mainly in traditionally female fields of employment, are unpaid.

Unable to work in addition to their internships and studies, the student intern community is experiencing great financial insecurity in this period of inflation. We want to know exactly when the Minister will put in place concrete and sustainable solutions to remunerate interns. We want remuneration for all internships, whether in the parapublic or public sector.

This fall, the student movement will be on the front line for remuneration!

Action in front of the Minister of Education's office in Lévis

On March 1ᵉʳ, 2024, interns and student associations across Quebec mobilized in front of the Minister of Education's office.

Our future teachers spend many hours in obligatory internships in order to be able to practice their professions. Although, by the fourth internship, they are doing the same work as a teacher, interns are not paid in any way. Given the labour shortage in this sector, it's vital that we take action!
